What is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy?
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a form of psychotherapy originally designed to treat depression, and now successfully used for a number of mental disorders. It works to solve current problems and change unhelpful thinking and behavior.
This technique acknowledges that there may be behaviors that cannot be controlled through rational thinking, but rather emerge based on prior conditioning from the environment and other external and/or internal stimuli.
What is Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy?
Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TFCBT) is an evidenced based psychotherapy model for individuals experiencing significant emotional and behavioral difficulties related to a traumatic event or events. TFCBT is structured and usually completed within 12-20 sessions. The components of TFCBT utilized in therapy sessions are:
