This alliance will empower the individual to identify strengths needed to achieve and maintain healthier life styles. Individual therapy could be beneficial for individuals of any age and developmental stage. Sunshine State Counseling Center’s clinicians are trained in utilizing different techniques to work in an individual setting with client’s ages three and up.

Sunshine State Counseling Center utilizes different modalities to provide professional and beneficial individual therapy such as but not limited to Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Play Therapy, and Sand Tray Play Therapy.

What is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy?

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a form of psychotherapy originally designed to treat depression, and now successfully used for a number of mental disorders. It works to solve current problems and change unhelpful thinking and behavior.

This technique acknowledges that there may be behaviors that cannot be controlled through rational thinking, but rather emerge based on prior conditioning from the environment and other external and/or internal stimuli.

What is Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy?

Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TFCBT) is an evidenced based psychotherapy model for individuals experiencing significant emotional and behavioral difficulties related to a traumatic event or events. TFCBT is structured and usually completed within 12-20 sessions. The components of TFCBT utilized in therapy sessions are:

What is Solution Focused Therapy?

Solution Focused Therapy (SFBT) is a goal-directed collaborative approach to psychotherapeutic change conducted through direct observation of clients’ responses to a series of precisely constructed questions. SFBT focuses on addressing what clients want to achieve exploring the history and the problems as the sessions typically focus on the here and now verses the past.
