Kara Jansen MA, RMHCI earned her Master of Arts Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Liberty University and is in with the State of Florida. She previously completed her bachelor’s degree in elementary education. As a former teacher and foster parent, Kara brings to the practice a unique perspective in working with children and teens, as well as an understanding of situations that occur with those involved in the foster care system. Kara previously led a support group for foster and adoptive parents in her church community.
Kara is an EMDRIA approved EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) Therapist and is trained in Brainspotting. In addition to these therapeutic techniques, she also uses Play Therapy, Sandtray Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), and other similar modalities.
Kara aspires to create a safe and compassionate environment where clients feel comfortable expressing their thoughts and emotions to work toward healing.Kara values creating and maintaining a valuable therapeutic relationship with all her clients and utilizing treatment approaches that are centered around their needs and cultural values to allow them to reach their desired outcomes both mentally and emotionally. She aspires to leave clients with optimal resiliency and the confidence that they can tackle any of life’s challenges.
