Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern
Sarah Brensel is a Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern who is passionate about helping children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families overcome life’s challenges and discover their strengths. She believes that healing begins within a safe, compassionate, and supportive therapeutic relationship where clients feel accepted, empowered, and encouraged to grow at their own pace.
Sarah earned her Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and her Education Specialist degree from Florida State University. She also earned dual bachelor’s degrees in Psychology and Business Administration, along with a minor in Philosophy, from the University of Florida, where she graduated cum laude and participated in the University Honors Program.
Sarah has experience providing outpatient mental health services in both private practice and school-based settings. She has worked with children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families experiencing anxiety, depression, stress, relationship concerns, life transitions, emotional regulation difficulties, and other mental health concerns. She values collaborating with parents, schools, and other professionals to provide comprehensive, client-centered care that supports lasting growth both inside and outside of the therapy room.
Her professional background also includes serving as a school behavioral health professional and educator, giving her valuable insight into the unique emotional, social, and academic challenges children and adolescents face. Sarah has received specialized training in crisis intervention, suicide prevention, and Gottman Method Level 1 for couples counseling.
Sarah’s therapeutic approach is collaborative, strengths-based, and individualized to each client’s unique needs. She strives to create a warm, nonjudgmental environment where clients feel comfortable exploring difficult emotions, building healthy coping skills, strengthening relationships, and working toward meaningful, lasting change. She is committed to providing evidence-based, culturally sensitive care while helping clients develop resilience and confidence throughout their healing journey.
Outside of her clinical work, Sarah enjoys continuing her professional education, spending time with family and friends, and promoting overall wellness. She is dedicated to lifelong learning and feels honored to walk alongside clients as they work toward healthier, more fulfilling lives.
